Parts Washers Sale

Should we buy a Washer New or Used?
So our washer transmission is not working, as far as we can tell. Living in a rual area, the nearest service repair is more than 2 hours away. The part is covered under warrenty, but has to first be confirmed by a service repair person…well…as you can guess at costs of $60/hr for someone to come look at it…..we might as well buy a new one.
I’ve been looking at craigslist, and seeing a few for sale that people say work just fine, for under $100…or we can buy a basic new one for around $400, or a energy star new one for around $600.
We don’t exactly have $400+ at the moment, so this would all end up going on our credit card
But i’m worried about buying used, especially if it just ended up breaking in a few months, and we’d get stuck in the situation again.
So looking for opinions! Thanks!
Our warrenty doesn’t cover the service call, and its $60/hr + travel.
I just got a quote, and the grand total for the service call would be $250. :/
Neither one! If it’s covered under warranty, have the repair person come and examine it. Check to make sure that the warranty covers both parts and labor. If so, the warranty will pay it all — including the $60 service call.
No way should you be paying for something that the manufacturer should pay for.
